Reading Programs, Contests and Free Give-aways
Our library is available to
every student from kindergarten to eighth grade. We strive to
instill an appreciation and love of reading through our classes
in library science but also throughout all of our school's
classes and activities. Books expand our horizons and challenge
us to open our minds to take in a broader view of our world than
we are able to experience on our own. We teach our students to
respect books, consider others'
point of view, and conduct their own research under the guidance
of our staff, using our library's
resources.
Within our library we have
established a Five Station Computer Center from which students
may conduct internet research under the supervision of our librarian.
We also have a much larger Computer Classroom which currently
has over thirty computer stations for students and staff. Our
students are encouraged to use either the library computer center
or our Computer Classroom for their internet research as well
as any projects or assignments. Our computer system is fire-walled,
monitored, password protected and has been fully safeguarded for
student use according to diocesan standards. Student's
may access their own personal files and documents from any computer
station in the school.
Each year, our librarian presents
a Book Fair through which our students, staff and parents may
purchase books and literature related material and items at a
discounted price. This also affords our school community yet a
further opportunity to meet and get to know one another a little
better. The Book Fair usually takes place in the Fall. Exact dates
and times will be posted on this page as well as on the main page
of the school website.
