a Superior rating (Highest Level Possible). Here's what
some of the judges had to say about the performance:
"Bravo!! Keep up the great
work - I love that you are challenging them [the choir
members] with awesome and complex music. Well Done!"
"Great hearing you today!
Keep singing! Thank You"
"Wow! Great choices for the
festival! Very focused and disciplined choir. Dynamics,
rhythm were incredible on Hotaru Koi....I am so impressed
- please keep up the excellent work!
The choir's scores were; 97 out of 100, 97 out of 100
and 94 out of 100. Excellent work!
We are very proud of our School Choir and are so very
indebted to Mr. Donald Cotton who has expertly molded and
formed each of our young singers to form one of the best
elementary school choral ensembles anywhere.

The primary goal of the music program
here at Queen of Apostles is to instill in the students an appreciation
for, and understanding of music. Beginning in Kindergarten
and continuing through the 8th grade, various aspects of music theory
are introduced, explored and expanded. These aspects include
identification of beat, rhythm, pitches, and textures. As
the expansion of these basics continues, eventually students are
able to read notation in song. It is this ability that will
hopefully remain with the students for the rest of their lives.
All students have an opportunity
to perform at the annual International Festival that is put on by
the PTO, and the annual Christmas pageant.
In addition to the students having
music once a week, the music program at Q of A includes an auditioned
choir of 40 students from the 4th through 8th grades. This
choir meets three times a week – Tuesday after school for an hour
and a half, and Tuesday and Thursday during recess. Because
if the talent, commitment, and dedication of the students, they
have had the privilege of singing for such venues as Kennedy Center
with the National Symphony Orchestra, the White House, and the National
Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, in Washington, DC.
