Second grade is great!
Students in second grade, in addition to the regular curriculum
within the classroom, get to go to the Art Studio, Computer Complex,
Music Room and Gymnasium. We also study Spanish and get to practice
being bilingual!
We have a lot of fun learning
new things as we explore Math, Science, Reading, Religion and Social
Studies but we also learn to work with others when we get to do
great group projects throughout the year.
Socially, we learn to
respect ourselves and others, tolerate opposing opinions and ideas,
express our own opinions and ideas and work and play together.
Our continuing formation
in our Catholic faith is enhanced this year by celebrating Mass
every week, experiencing our first reconcilliation and then making
our First Holy Communion. We become sacramental partners with our
eighth graders who are preparing for their Confirmation. Every day
we are reminded to ask ourselves, "What would Jesus do?"
This helps to remind us that we are called to serve a hight purpose
and are supposed to serve one another and love one another just
like Jesus loves us!
Our second
graders are called to be examples to our first graders and kindergarteners.
We expect great things of them and they always rise to our expectations
and, very often, exceed them.
