Sixth Grade Literature

Welcome Students! This will be an exciting year. Throughout the school year, I will share with you many of my favorite books and authors which I hope you will enjoy. I will also give you an opportunity to share with your classmates some of your favorite books as well.

Here are the goals on which we will be working this year:

    • Read a variety of short stories and novels

    • Identify and discuss literary elements (character, plot, theme, setting, conflict, climax and resolution)

    • Respond to literature orally and written (Reading Response Journal)

    • Retell stories and give several Book Talks during the school year

    • Learn and utilize multiple reading strategies to improve your reading comprehension

    • Choose books that are appropriate to your reading level and interest
